About me
My name is Joan Farley.
As a teenager, I struggled with insecurity and loneliness. We moved many times, from Indonesia where I was born, to various places in the U.S., and then to Trinidad and Venezuela. The older I got, the harder those moves were.
I was an avid reader, and books helped me through some hard times. When I was 11, we were forced out of Indonesia after my dad was accused of being a CIA spy. The Chronicles of Narnia became a lifeline with my dad suffering from PTSD and my mom working full-time. Again, in boarding school in Venezuela, it was a book that became a friend as I sought advice on how to grow in my Christian walk. Returning to the U.S. for my junior year in high school, I devoured the books of Grace Livingston Hill.
My greatest passion has always been to live my life with purpose, striving to make an eternal impact. As a single woman, I dedicated myself to serving children and teens in various roles: working at an orphanage in Mexico, coordinating child sponsorship programs in Guatemala, serving as a Christian Education Director in the Philippines, leading children's discipleship ministries at a church in Minnesota, and eventually teaching as a college professor in Canada.
In my forties, I met my husband, and my role shifted to that of a pastor's wife, deeply involved in children's and women's ministry within the church. In 2011, we transitioned from local church ministry to become itinerant teachers. Today, I travel the world, equipping children's ministry workers and inspiring women through teaching and mentorship.
